In 2025, KALW joined NPR and PBS stations around the country in a national engagement campaign for Caregiving, a two-hour documentary from executive producer Bradley Cooper.

We collaborated with community partners to host a series of on-air programming and events dedicated to the livelihoods and well-being of caregivers. KALW invited caregivers to join us at our downtown event space in San Francisco and at the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch in two events that were open to the public. KALW shows, including Your Call with Rose Aguilar, State of the Bay, and The Sights + Sounds show with Jenee Darden. Listen to these segments below.

KALW’s Caregiving for Caregivers engaged thousands of on-air and in-person audiences with caregiving resources, wellness expertise, and inspiring stories in advocacy for better caregiving systems in the Bay Area and across California.

Caregiving for Caregivers Events

On June 21, 2025, KALW’s hosted a free, uplifting event where we gathered community members to share stories, find support, and celebrate the strength of caregivers in our community. The event included helpful tools and info sessions for caregivers, fresh blended smoothies from our partner Pulp Pours, and a yoga demonstration by Yoga Instructor, Nutritionist, and Lifecoach Mark Rudy, MS.

Later in July, KALW’s Rose Aguilar hosted a live taping of Your Call called Understanding the Caregiving Crisis at the San Francisco Public Library’s Main Branch. The Your Call Live event welcomed Rose Aguilar to discuss the state and the stakes of caregiving in America with CA State Assemblymember Matt Haney, San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS) executive director Kelly Dearman and the director and executive producer of the feature length documentary film Caregiving, Chris Durrance.
