Shereen Adel
Director of ImpactShereen has over a decade of experience in media, communications, and education. After teaching middle and high school students in Egypt, Shereen moved into public radio, getting her start by joining KALW's Audio Academy in San Francisco. She went on from there to organize and facilitate workshops for media startups and local news outlets from around the country with Matter Ventures.
She returned to KALW to manage production for the award-winning local news magazine, Crosscurrents. She then moved into a role overseeing KALW’s in-house training programs, which are integrally connected to our local news production. We offer opportunities for adults and teens to learn how to make documentary-style audio stories, creating pathways for independent storytellers and audio producers throughout the field.
Now, in her current role, she supports all KALW program leads in advancing our mission to use our platforms to foster a sense of belonging within and across Bay Area communities. Shereen believes in the value of community-powered journalism to help us push boundaries and connect meaningfully with one another.
