Nurses Take To The Streets To Demand Protective Gear

Registered nurses listen to speakers during a National Nurses United rally at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, Calif., on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

On this edition of Your Call, we're hearing from a Bay Area nurse who says the lack of personal protective gear continues to be a huge problem. Jennifer Carraher says her hospital has run out of eye protection and hand sanitizer, and N95 masks are scarce.

Frontline healthcare workers are taking to social media to express their continued frustration and fear over running out of personal protective equipment. Many say they are reusing masks or making their own. Why is it taking so long to get healthcare workers the gear they so desperately need?

Guest:

Jennifer Carraher, advanced practice triage nurse at a large Bay Area hosptial, medical sociologist, and member of the California Nurses Association
