Most people don’t know that November is Native American Heritage Month. It’s hardly in the news. This week, the American Indian Film Institute celebrates its 40th film festival. Native Americans say the truth about genocide has been covered up for too long, but we are seeing gradual changes from the classroom to cities that now celebrate Indigenous People’s Day rather than Columbus Day.
