At a White House press conference yesterday, on the day the US passed a milestone (80,000 deaths), Donald Trump said “we have met the moment and we have prevailed.” There are still no clear plans in place focusing on testing, contact tracing, ensuring healthcare workers and frontline workers have PPE, or how to deal with another wave after reopening.
On Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s leading infectious diseases doctor, warned that the country faces “needless suffering and death” if the nation reopens too early during the coronavirus pandemic. He said 80,000 deaths is "unacceptable."
