On this edition of Your Call, we’re hearing how people experiencing domestic violence are receiving support while sheltering at home during the COVID-19 crisis. Organizations around the globe are seeing an increase in domestic violence calls.
Here in the US, according to the California’s Women Health Survey, approximately 40 percent of California women experience physical intimate partner violence in their lifetimes, and about three quarters of women who’ve been victimized say they had children at home. What resources are available for those who do not feel safe sheltering in place? What systemic changes need to happen to truly address this crisis?
