Your Call: The Force follows scandal-plagued Oakland Police Department
In the new documentary The Force, an Oakland police officer tells new recruits, “I don’t want bad cops. Period. I don’t need them.” In the film, director Peter Nicks follows the Oakland Police Department over two years.
He captures new recruit trainings, officers responding to the Black Lives Matter movement, and the sex scandals that led to the resignation of three consecutive police chiefs within nine days.
The film gives us a close-up view of a department struggling to reform and the increasing unrest of the community it’s supposed to serve. Join the conversation on the next Your Call, with Rose Aguilar, and you.
