Sights and Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene through the eyes and ears of local artists. This week, guest host Truc Nguyen sat down with Sarah Simon and Kate Sweeney from the band Magic Magic Roses to talk about three events happening around the bay this weekend.
- Karaoke Club on Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 2727 California Street in Berkeley
- Winter Park Opening Celebration on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at Civic Center
- Bay Area Record Fest on Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at 7th West in Oakland
2727 California St. in Berkeley is a great non profit organization with tons of free arts and culture events, and for those who like to sing, their Karaoke Club happens every Thursday afternoon. This is karoake to live instruments, and all ages are welcome!
The Winter Park at Civic Center is bringing the first signs of the holiday season to the Bay on Friday. The ice skating rink will be opening with a special ceremony to celebrate at 11 a.m., featuring a DJ and some performances by special guests.
The Bay Area Record Fest on Saturday is a great way to support local musicians and pick up some awesome vinyl, not to mention try some delicious food and arcade games. Performers include local favorites Sonny and the Sunsets, Zelma Stone, the Gonks and tons more.
