Sights and Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene. This week, comedic monologist Josh Kornbluth sat down with KALW's Jenee Darden to talk about three events happening around the Bay Area this weekend.

The Flick is a comedy about three movie theater employees in their 20s and 30s. This hilarious play deals with race, class and the unique challenges of cleaning up a movie theatre in between screenings. It’s running at the Ashby Stage Theater in Berkeley this weekend, starting Friday night.

Folk-punk band The Mountain Goats are performing at the Fillmore this Friday the 13th, at 9 p.m. Singer-songwriter John Darnielle and his band will be playing some of your favorite songs from their 17 -album catalog.

A Wedding Suit, by the renowned Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, is about a young Iranian boy working as a photographer's assistant. It's a moving and critically acclaimed portrait of the culture of Iranian working class youth in the 1970s. Playing this Sunday at 3:30pm at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, it is part of an exhibition of Kiorostami’s films running through December.

Josh Kornbluth’s short film Age Without Ageism will be screening at the Legacy Film Festivalin San Francisco. The festival runs Sept 20th to Sept. 22nd. 

Jeneé Darden is an award-winning journalist, author, public speaker and proud Oakland native. She is the executive producer and host of the weekly arts segment Sights & Sounds as well as the series Sights + Sounds Magazine. Jeneé also covers East Oakland for KALW. Jeneé has reported for NPR, Marketplace, KQED, KPCC, The Los Angeles Times, Ebony magazine, Refinery29 and other outlets. In 2005, she reported on the London transit bombings for Time magazine. Prior to coming to KALW, she hosted the podcast Mental Health and Wellness Radio.
