Seeing A Childhood Sexual Experience For What It Was: Abuse

Sep 23, 2019

Content warning: this audio contains descriptions of childhood sexual abuse.

From the series Uncuffed: Only after coming to prison did Javier Wesson and Tyrone Binkley see their childhood experiences for what they were: sexual abuse at the hands of family members.

Whenever sexual abuse and trauma happens to young boys — either at the hands of trusted family members or of strangers – there seems to be an automatic minimization and sometimes even praise of the despicable events.

Tyrone and Javier share with me what happened to them as children and how it has impacted their lives

My first sexual experience is from my uncle's wife -- she teaching me things that no six-year-old boy should be dealing with.
