Chesa Boudin Won San Francisco's DA Race. Now He Plans to End Mass Incarceration

San Francisco's next District Attorney, Chesa Boudin, is a longtime public defender.

San Francisco’s next top cop, Chesa Boudin, made his experience as a public defender and the son of incarcerated radicals the center of his campaign. And he told voters he would end racial disparities in the city’s criminal justice system.

"I need every one of you to hold me accountable for those promises. We have to build an office like no other District Attorney's office in the country." - Chesa Boudin

Boudin has said he will immediately end money bail in his office, and the practice of adding extra punishments for people found to be in gangs. It’s not yet clear when he will start the job.
