City Visions Election Coverage: Should Californians repeal the gas tax increase?

Is the gas and vehicle tax increase approved last year too much for Californians with tight budgets?  Or is it a much-needed source of funding for the state’s transportation infrastructure?

 

We continue our special coverage of the upcoming election by focusing on Prop 6, which would repeal this additional gas and vehicle tax.  We’ll discuss who’s for it, who’s against it, and why, as well as the potential consequences of your vote.

Carl Guardino - Carl is the President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, a public policy trade association.  He has been appointed to the California Transportation Commission by both Governors Schwarzenegger and Brown. Additionally, he has championed a number of ballot measures in the areas of transportation and housing.  

Harmeet Dhillon - Harmeet is a trial lawyer in San Francisco, a Republican official and a Republican National Committee Member from California and a long-time Conservative activist.   


Martin Wachs, Ph.D. -  Martin is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering and City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley.  He is the Former Director of the UC Transportation Center and the Department Chair of the the Department of Planning at UCLA.
