The Spot: Lost Notes

KCRW
Richard Berry, credited with creating the song "Louie Louie," is the focus of the first episode of KCRW's 'Lost Notes.'

This week on KALW's showcase for the best stories from public radio podcasts and independent radio producers...

Louie Louie: The Strange Journey of the Dirtiest Song Never Written” from KCRW’s Lost Notes, April 2018.

Through short audio documentaries, the new podcast Lost Notes from KCRW, makes sure that you aren't left in the dark when it comes to the hidden histories of iconic American music.  In their first episode, they share the story behind one of the most ubiquitous songs from America’s rock n’ roll history, which includes an investigation by the FBI, smashing records, chasing licensing rights, and a lot of curse words (maybe).

The story begins with the host of Lost Notes, Solomon Georgio, speaking with KCRW reporter and the story’s producer David Weinberg. You can hear more stories from Lost Notes and see photos of Richard Berry and documents from the FBI investigation at the KCRW website. You can also subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts.

This week's episode featured music from: Black Moth Super RainbowRichard Berry, and The Kingsmen

If you have a suggestion for a podcast or an audio project we should feature, please drop us a line at thespot@kalw.org.
