A Hospital Chaplain On The Front Lines Of COVID-19

Rev. Claire Bohman provides support to patients, their loved ones, and staff at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. In this installment of our new series "The Essentials," Rev. Claire says COVID-19 has more caregivers asking for spiritual and emotional support.

When I said, you know, 'would you like to pray?' and we started praying together, I saw his shoulders relax. And that was a big deal because he was having a hard time breathing.

In normal times, interfaith chaplains are there to help patients with their spiritual and emotional needs. Now, Rev. Claire reminds patients and caregivers that spiritual and emotional tools can help to address the fear and be part of the healing process.
