In 1980 journalist Chuck Nevius left a high school sports reporting gig in Colorado and landed a job with the San Francisco Chronicle covering the Raiders.
Nevius would go on to have a nearly forty year career in sports and later political journalism, that would make him one of the most recognized and sometimes controversial Bay Area newspaper writers.
After retiring last year, Chuck decided to share his experience on stage in a one-man show called Oakland Raiders, True Crime & Coming of Age in SF.
"It's like writing a column with sound effects. It's like you're writing the column, but you're also telling the column."
He visited KALW to talk about why he jumped from the page to the stage.
You can catch Chuck and his one-man show at The Marsh, running until December 15th in San Francisco.
