Your Call's Media Roundtable: Freedom of the press in 2017; winners & losers of the GOP tax plan

On this week’s media roundtable, we’ll discuss press freedom in the United States and across the world, and the shifting media landscape in the Trump era. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, in 2017, the number of journalists jailed around the world reached a record high of 262.

We’ll also discuss the GOP’s overhaul of the US tax code, which includes the repeal of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate and $1.5 trillion in tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthy and corporations.

Guests:

Dr. Courtney Radsch, advocacy director at the Committee to Protect Journalists and author of Cyberactivism and Citizen Journalism in Egypt: Digital Dissidence and Political Change

David Cay Johnston, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter, founder and editor of DCReport.org, and author of It’s Worse Than You Think
