Your Call: Why Standing Rock matters

On the November 1st edition of Your Call, we’ll have a conversation about the ongoing protests at Standing Rock. Thousands of Native Americans and their allies have been resisting the construction of the $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline since April.

Last week, police in riot gear from six states deployed armored vehicles, mace, pepper spray, tasers, bean bag rounds, and an audio cannon to push protesters away from the private land owned by the pipeline developers. Over 100 people were arrested, including elders. The pipeline is now being protected by police and military vehicles and is no longer accessible. What's next? Join us live at 10am with Rose Aguilar, and you.

Guests:
Kandi Mossett, Native energy & climate campaign organizer with the Indigenous Environmental Network

Mary Annette Pember, independent journalist focusing on Native issues

Simon Moya Smith, activist, and culture editor with Indian Country Today
