Sights & Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene. Nathan Tan is a fashion designer, artist, and owner of the clothing company New Skool, and he told KALW’s Bo Walsh about three fantastic arts events happening around the Bay this weekend.

Dilla Day 2019 is the annual celebration of life in honor of the late hip hop producer J Dilla. Resident DJ’s Shortkut & Mr. E,  as well as special guest Mr. Choc will be playing Dilla beats throughout the night. This event is hosted by 15 Utah and being held at the Great Northern in San Francisco.

"It’s hard to carve out your own niche in hip hop producing, few producers have done that, but J Dilla’s beats to me were just raw, and funky, and dope samples."
