DJ Lamont On Connecting With The ‘Micro-Communities’ Of San Francisco

For nearly 20 years DJ Lamont has been teaching spinning skills through his business Fingersnaps Media Arts. But he’s also known for getting the party started around the Bay Area. He shares his journey to music and San Francisco.

"A DJ is a social worker in many regards, because the idea is you are working the behavior of all these different groups, trying to understand them with the music that you play."

DJ Lamont is spinning at Ruth's Table Thursday Nov. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. On Friday, Nov 22, he’s hosting "Talk What We Hear: Exploring the History of Chicago House Music 1989" at Fingersnaps Media Arts in the Mission.
