BJ Miller, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where he practices and teaches palliative medicine. Through his writing, teaching and work, he has spearheaded a nationwide effort to change the way we think about and approach death and dying. He is the former executive director of the Zen Hospice Center in San Francisco.
Shoshana Berger is the editorial director of the global design firm IDEO and was formerly the cofounder and editor-in-chief of ReadyMade magazine.
Miller and Berger are co-authors of A Beginner’s Guide to the End: Practical Advice for Living Life and Facing Death.
Lucy Kalanithi, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the widow of the late Dr. Paul Kalanithi, author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, When Breath Becomes Air, to which she wrote the epilogue.
