DISABILITY VISIBILITY: Alice Is Interviewed [encore]

This week, BAY MADE remembers Alice Wong, who passed away on November 14th, by airing some of our favorite episodes of her podcast Disability Visibility.

Alice was a disabled activist, writer, editor, community organizer, and all around badass based in San Francisco. She founded the Disability Visibility Project and received a MacArthur Genius grant in 2024.

Much of her work, including her podcast and anthologies, is about amplifying the voices and culture of people with disabilities.

In this episode, the tables are turned: Alice is interviewed by her friend and colleague Rochelle Kwan, who is the storytelling team lead at Think!Chinatown, an intergenerational non-profit based in Manhattan’s Chinatown that builds community through neighborhood engagement, storytelling and the arts.

This piece was originally released on July 26, 2020 to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Americans with Disabilities Act, also known as the ADA.
