The documentary Toni Morrison:The Pieces I Am is about the late author’s life. Morrison talks about her childhood in Ohio, to working in publishing in the 1970s, her literary achievements and race in America. The film is playing at select theaters in the Bay Area.
House of Joy, playing at Cal Shakes, takes places around 17th century Delhi where an imperial bodyguard risks her life to fight for what’s right, and goes against everything she’s been raised to believe. The show is a blend of comedy, action, adventure and romance. House of Joy runs at Cal Shakes until Sept. 1st.
The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco has exhibits and games for the kids in the daytimes. But for some more adult fun check out Nightlife LIVE on Thursday nights, with live music, creatures and cocktails. The event is for adults 21 and up.
The Tammy L. Hall Trio is performing with songstress Veronica Klaus on Aug 31 and Sept 1 at Martuni's Piano Bar in San Francisco.
