Sights & Sounds: RyanNicole

Sights & Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene. Hip hop artist and actress RyanNicole told KALW’s Jeneé Darden about three arts events happening around the Bay Area this weekend. 

  

TheBlack Cultural Zone Block Party is the place to be this Saturday, August 3rd, 12-5pm. The fun takes place at the intersection of International Blvd. and Auseon Ave in East Oakland. Enjoy live music, a kids zone, food trucks, dominos and more! RyanNicole will emcee. Artists scheduled to perform include Turfer Girl, Shavon Moore and Nicia De’Lovely. KALW and Sights & Sounds of East Oakland is a proud sponsor of this event. 

The Ankara Day Party goes down this Sunday, August 4th at the AU Lounge in Downtown Oakland, 2-9pm. During the festival celebrate African fashion, food and music. DJs featured include Xander and Flygerian. Admission is $20.

 
 

The 3rd Annual So Oakland Day Fest is happening at the 16th Street Train Station in West Oakland on Sunday Aug 4th. The festival is about preserving the authentic, diverse culture of Oakland. This is a family affair with a kid zone, backpack giveaway, lots of vendors, music and food. The fun runs from 12-7pm. Kids and seniors are free. Tickets are $7 online,  $10 at the gate.
