Sarchasm is a Berkeley-based band that’s been together for a decade. They’ve used their music to work through challenges, spread political messages, and support each other.
The group includes artists who are trans and Latinx — and it hasn’t always been easy for them to find space in the pop punk scene. In this edition of Bay Area Beats, the band’s four members share the trials, and triumphs, that have influenced their work.
Sarchasm is still releasing new music during the shelter-in-place — most recently, a live album recorded at a show in 2018. You can listen to that, and more of their work, on their website.
