How is theater changing the way we experience news and information?

On this edition of Your Call, we’ll discuss the power of journalism on stage. How is theater tackling current events and social issues at a time when actual facts have been undermined?

We’ll speak with the founder of the San Francisco based 3 Girls Theatre Company, whose new production explores the Trump administration’s war on the reproductive rights of undocumented teens at the border. We’ll also hear from the director of StoryWorks, which is a journalism-inspired theater project from Reveal focusing on issues ranging from PTSD to trafficking to elder abuse. How is theater changing the way we experience news and information?

Guests:

AJ Baker, co-founder and executive artistic director at 3 Girls Theatre Company, and award-winning playwright of works including “Disruption,” “Entanglement” and “The Anniversary Effect”

Jennifer Welch, artistic director and creator of StoryWorks, a documentary theater project launched by Reveal and The Center for Investigative Reporting
