A new report from the World Resources Institute asks: How can we feed 10 billion people by 2050 without raising greenhouse gas emissions? According to a recent report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the entire food production system accounts for 37 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. Meat and dairy account for 14.5 percent of those emissions, but demand is expected to rise by nearly 70 percent by 2050. What changes are needed to create a sustainable food future?
