Bay Area tech companies are making major changes to work culture in the wake of COVID-19. Since the shelter-in-place order began in March, most tech workers have shifted to working from home.

Yesterday Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced a permanent change to their work culture. Any employee that does their work from home, can now do so forever.

Facebook and Google say that most employees may work from home through the end of the year. Amazon will allow their office employees to continue working from home until October.

Apple, because of its reliance on hands-on product development, has kept certain teams in their offices since the COVID-19 crisis began. They announced internally that they plan to get more teams back to their Cupertino campus by the end of May, and be close to full capacity by the end of the summer. Apple’s retail stores remain closed in California, but have begun to open up in other parts of the country.
