Day 3: San Francisco's Coronavirus Shutdown In Pictures

The uncertainty and anxiety of Bay Area residents increased, Thursday, as Governor Gavin Newsom made two provocative statements. First, in a letter to President Donald Trump, Newsom wrote, "We project that roughly 56 percent of our population — 25.5 million people — will be infected with the virus over an eight-week period." Then, he announced that he would extend the Bay Area's shelter-in-place order to the entire state until further notice.

This collection of photographs shows what that looked like on the third day the order was in effect in San Francisco.
