The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Lake Tahoe region beginning Friday afternoon with more than a foot of snow possible on the mountain tops by Saturday.
A series of weather systems is expected to bring rain and snow to the region through the weekend. The advisory at Tahoe runs from 4 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday at elevations above 6,500 feet. The service says a couple of inches of snow is possible at lake level with up to 10 inches above 7,000 feet.
