Counties up and down the state are reporting decreases in their homeless populations.

San Joaquin County, for example, reduced the number of homeless people throughout the entire county by nearly a third.
In Alameda County, for the first time, the number of people who got into housing was actually greater than the number who fell into homelessness.
And officials in every county say they've added more shelter beds, more permanent housing placements. That's because of new funding that Governor Gavin Newsom has put into homelessness starting in 2019. Now we're finally starting to actually see some of the fruits of that investment.
