Timber Fire continues to spread, but containment also increasing

A forest fire.

The Timber Fire near Big Sur in Monterey County grew to more than 5,700 acres last night.

But Cal Fire officials said earlier today the fire is 27% contained, up from yesterday.

The fire started almost two weeks ago.

Highway One near Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park remains closed for now.
