City Visions: What's it like for women in the restaurant industry?

duesdanfe

On May 13, 2019: Did you know that 60% of U.S. women will work in the restaurant industry at some point in their lives? Historically, restaurants can be challenging workplaces for women - with low pay that relies on tips, problems with sexual harassment, and a lack of access to capital for women trying to start their own businesses. Host Joseph Pace sits down with two women who are working to resolve these issues and create profitable careers for women in the restaurant industry.

Guests:

Geetika Agrawal - Program Director of La Cocina, a San Francisco nonprofit community kitchen and business incubator

Saru Jayaraman - Director of the Food Labor Research Center at UC Berkeley, co-founder of Restaurant Opportunities Centers United, and author of Forked: A New Standard for American Dining
