Family Style: Exploring the Meaning of our Food Traditions


How can we forge connections through food? How do the meals we share with our families reflect our politics and values? Host Joseph Pace speaks with four Bay Area contributors to the new anthology The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage: True Tales of Food, Family and How We Learn to Eat.


-Caroline Grant, editor-in-chief of Literary Mama, co-founder of the website Learning to Eat, and co-editor with Lisa Harper of the The Cassoulet Saved our Marriage.

-Greg Dicum, journalist covering business, technology, travel and the environment. He is also the author, most recently, of The Pisco Book, a guide to the Peruvian grape brandy, and co-founder of the air travel website MondoWindow.

-Phyllis Grant, creator of Dash and Bella, a blog about cooking with her two children. She formerly worked in pastry at New York City’s Bouley, Michael’s and Nobu.

-Lisa Harper, author of the memoir A Double Life: Discovering Motherhood and co-editor with Caroline Grant of The Cassoulet Saved our Marriage. She also writes about motherhood for numerous print and web publications and teaches in the MFA program at the University of San Francisco.
