Radio Poet Angie N.

Hear a different poet at 6:49 a.m. Monday - Thursday throughout the month of April, which is National Poetry Month. Today's poet is Angie reading, "A Riddle." National Poetry Month was originally organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.

For several years KALW has partnered with America Scores and the San Francisco United School District to bring you original poems written by young students, read in their own voice.

A Riddle by Angie N.

I look clear as a crystal

I have been used for a long time

For centuries

You use me everyday

Such as the morning, afternoon, evening

And before you go to bed too

What am I?

Answer: water

Kevin Vance created a program of folk music for KALW, A Patchwork Quilt, in October 1991. He grew up in Berkeley during the 1960s and '70s and spent his years learning in public schools, community colleges, bookstores, libraries, and non-commercial radio stations, as well as from the people around him. When he's not on the radio, then he's selling books, taking care of his family, listening to music, entering stuff into a computer, or taking a class.
