Hear a different poet at 6:49 a.m. Monday - Thursday throughout the month of April, which is National Poetry Month. Today's poet is Gerelyn reading, "I am Art Master." National Poetry Month was originally organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.
For several years KALW has partnered with America Scores and the San Francisco United School District to bring you original poems written by young students, read in their own voice.
I Am Art Master by Gerelyn N.
I am an art master.
I have no fear of patterns.
It lives in my dream, running circles around my head,
spilling out of my hands and onto the canvas of the world.
I can see paint brushes chasing each other
back and forward crushing the papers with my
imagination.
I can taste the bright neon colors with every single stroke.
Feeling sweaty bright colors bursting onto the lovely masterpiece of art.
I can smell the checkered patterns oozing out black and white.
Hearing people sketching their drawings.
I have no fear of patterns.
