Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical returns to San Francisco as part of a new North American Tour. With new staging and set design, and a cast and orchestra of 52, this Phantom is one of the largest tour productions in the country. The show will be in San Francisco through September 30. In London's West End, the musical has been showing since it opened in 1986, and on Broadway since 1988.

Also visiting us in the studio is Grammy Award winning choral conductor Ragnar Bohlin, in his capacity as artistic director of professional chamber choir Cappella SF. He will share details about the ensemble’s upcoming concerts in Oakland (Cathedral of Christ the Light, Sept 15, 8pm); and in San Francisco (Mission Dolores Basilica, Sept 16, 5pm).

The program is titled Crown Jewels of Britain ~ A Journey through Centuries of British Music  and it includes music by composers such as Dunstable, Purcell, Elgar, Gardiner, Vaughan Williams, Britten, MacMillan, and Talbot. As a conductor, Bohlin was recently named the 2018 recipient of the Michael Korn Founders Award for the Development of the Professional Choral Art by Chorus America.

Conductor Michael Morgan stops by to discuss his upcoming guest appearance with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony(BARS). Morgan will lead the orchestra in a program that includes Bernstein’s Three Dance Variations from Fancy Free; Mozart’s Linz Symphony No. 36; and Capriccio Italien by Tchaikovsky.  Violinist Andrew Sords is soloist in Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy.
