This week, conversations with two of the creative forces behind the upcoming West Coast Premiere of  “Battle Hymns”, a David Lang work that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, to be staged at the Kezar Pavilion: Leah Stein brings her dancers from Philadelphia to participate, and Barbara Heroux, executive director of Volti, discusses that ensemble's involvement, which also includes the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir and the San Francisco Choral Society.  San Francisco International Film Festival Programmer Sean Uyehara offers an overview of this year’s film festival; and with a new film version of The Great Gatsby forthcoming, critic Peter Robinson looks at the way F.
