Join us for the next KALW On-Air Folk Festival this Saturday December 9th 3 pm to 8 pm!
It's five hours of continuous music performed live in the KALW studios, showcasing some of the Bay Area's top talent. The folk festival is hosted by JoAnn Mar, Kevin Vance, and Peter Thompson. Here's the line-up:
3:00 pm Bruce Cockburn, one of Canada's most beloved singer-songwriters, will kick off the festival. 3:45 pm The Christmas Revels will bring us good cheer with holiday songs and music for winter solstice from their new production "A Scottish Celebration of the Solstice."
4:15 pm Kelly McFarling, San Francisco-based singer-songwriter and her six-piece band will perform songs from her new CD "Water Dogs", her most intimate and folk-leaning recording.
5:00 pm Larry Hanks & Deborah Robbins sing old-time songs of love and social significance.
5:45 pm Teja Gerken & Doug Young, Bay Area fingerstyle guitarists
6:30 pm Matt & George & Their Pleasant Valley Boys performs songs from their latest "Blue Grass Style" album, a celebration of the band's 10th anniversary. Matt Dudman (mandolin), George Goodell (banjo), and Jenny Lynn Williams (guitar).
7:20 pm Thompsonia is a family affair, combining Mom & Dad (Suzy & Eric) Thompson’s deep devotion to southern roots music with daughter Allegra’s fresh perspective.
