Happy birthday, Buddy Guy

The pre-eminent elder statesman of the blues was born July 30, 1936 in Lettsworth, Louisiana.

From his earliest days in Baton Rouge to his seminal role in the Chicago scene to his current status as living blues legend, host Devon Strolovitch pays tribute to Buddy Guy on his 86th birthday this Saturday 7/30 at 8 pm.

Devon Strolovitch studied medieval Judeo-Portuguese manuscripts and earned a PhD in Linguistics from Cornell University before coming to KALW. He is the Senior Producer of Philosophy Talk, and since 2007 has hosted Fog City Blues, the weekly digest of Blues in the Bay Area and beyond.
