Wheelchair Basketball Is Just Basketball

avery_dauer_tbh.png
Avery Dauer is a musical theater student at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in San Francisco and an audio producer for tbh, a podcast made by, about, and for teenagers -- and anyone else who wants to hear what's on their minds.

2020 is the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, an important landmark for inclusion. In this episode of tbh, Avery Dauer tells the story of how Paralympic coach Trooper Johnson came to train young athletes like himself, and what that means to him.

"Whether it be basketball, writing, sports, whatever, I feel like that's helped me find who I am, and accept my differences and what goes in my body and how I move, and see that I can be more than society expects me." - Avery Dauer

This episode was edited by Holly J. McDede and engineered by Tarek Fouda.
