Holiday Magic On Alameda's Christmas Tree Lane

For eleven months a year, the 3200 block of Thompson Avenue in Alameda looks like all the rest. But when December rolls around, it’s transformed into a magical holiday spectacular of light and sound called Christmas Tree Lane.

This annual tradition began in 1938 and has taken place every year since, except for a brief break during the second world war. It now attracts people from all over the world, who come for a dose of holiday cheer. This is the story of the what, why and how of Christmas Tree Lane.

Christmas Tree Lane continues through Monday, December 23rd. Santa will be there between 6:30pm and 8pm each evening. For more information and directions, head to Christmas Tree Lane’s page on Facebook.
