San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim took office the same day Ed Lee became mayor back in 2011 and served as a supervisor for the entirety of his time as mayor. She was at Zuckerberg General Hospital.

She spoke with KALW's Ben Trefny about her experience working with Mayor Lee, and the role he played in shaping San Francisco's politics.

"He was someone that has always been a supporter. And we've had our disagreements. The mayor and I certainly didn't always see eye to eye. But we always agreed on what the critical issues in San Francisco are, whether it was high housing prices, protections for our vulnerable residents, our residents who live on our streets, to economic inequality. We were both committed to solving those issues."
