In this week marking the two-year anniversary of Michael Brown’s death, KALW teamed up with the East Bay Express to share essays by Bay Area residents about racial injustice in America.

Faiza Farah is a digital media startup founder who feels trapped by the violence that faces her community. KALW’s Lucy Kang sat down with Farah, who struggles as a black woman to with the daily challenge of “trying to prove your humanity to people.”

FARAH: Going into work didn't even seem like an option. I really felt completely terrorized cause the fear was in my bones.

This series is a partnership between KALW and the East Bay Express, where the essays reflecting on racial injustice in America originally appeared.
