First Days: Ethel Rohan
There are immigrant communities all over the Bay Area - from Eritreans living in North Oakland, to South Asian communities in Fremont, to immigrants from Central American in San Francisco’s Mission District. This week, we’re bringing you the stories of some of those people’s first days here.
Ethel Rohan is a writer from Ireland who moved to San Francisco in 1990 when she was 22 years old. This is how she remembers her very first days in the U.S.
The First Days Project is a collaboration with PRI and the South Asian American Digital Archive. To hear more of these stories from the First Days Project, click here.
