The magnificent humpback whale

Whales: their intelligence, size and elegance grab people’s attention.  But few people get to experience them close up and in the wild. Here's the story of a one-of-a-kind whale encounter off the coast of the San Francisco Bay, brought to us by WNYC’s Radiolab. It asks the question - just how much of a connection can humans and whales have?

"I remember distinctly, I was 18 inches away from her eye and she just looked at me and let me touch her, and then swam off."

This piece is from our friends at WNYC’s Radiolab. You can hear them on KALW every Tuesday at 10pm. For a link to their full episode about Animal Minds, click here.
