As social justice movements come to terms with the daily undoing of progress by the Trump administration, the podcast “How We Build This” considers how individuals and groups can take action in a time of rising authoritarianism and shrinking rights.
In each episode, host May Boeve, a longtime climate organizer in the Bay Area and founding Executive Director of 350.org, talks with seasoned leaders from other progressive movements about the road ahead.
In this episode, May talks with Emily Lee, co-founder of Seed the Vote, about how volunteers can play a decisive role in protecting democracy and building long-term movement power. This piece was originally released in September 2026.
