This we are sharing a sneak peek of Revisiting The Gay Life from KALW’s Queer Power Hour and the GLBT Historical Society. The audio documentary series explores LGBTQ history in the Bay Area by re-listening to The Gay Life, a San Francisco radio show that was hosted by Randy Alfred from the late '70s to the early '80s. The original show ran on KSAN in the Bay Area.
On today’s show, we focus on the man who killed Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone in 1978. And the verdict that ignited a riot. We'll share a 20+ audio montage on the verdict and a speech from Gwenn Craig, who was a friend and mentee of Harvey Milk.
To hear the entire series, tune into KALW’s Queer Power Hour Thursdays at 6pm — all summer long.
Join us for Out on the Air, a live conversation about the history of LGBTQ radio on July 15th at 7pm at KALW’s community event space at 220 Montgomery Street in downtown San Francisco.
