This week, we’re featuring episodes of A Tiny Plot, a documentary series that follows a group of people who are homeless in Oakland CA, as they fight for a place where they could live as a community and set their own rules. The series, which The New Yorker named it one of the best podcasts of 2025, is produced by our friends at Snap Studios in San Francisco, and is hosted by Shaina Shealy.
Today, we’re sharing Part One, in which residents of an encampment at Oakland’s Union Point Park use broken refrigerators, mattresses and dishwashers to keep city cleanup crews from clearing out their makeshift community.
