SFGMC Memory Keepers Initiative: San Francisco’s Queer Arts Legacy

This second of four programs from the Memory Keepers Initiative of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus was titled “Raising The Curtain On San Francisco’s Queer Arts Legacy.”

The panelists included author and playwright Jewelle Gomez, artist and archivist Seth Eisen, and Scrumbly Koledwyn, a founding member of the Cockettes. It was hosted by the GLBT Historical Society and moderated by Leigh Pfeffer, who manages the historical society’s Museum Experience. It was recorded live at the Chan National Queer Arts Center on April 18, 2024.

The Memory Keepers Initiative is an oral history project intended to uplift and preserve the stories of our visionary LGBTQ+ elders. By doing so, we hope to foster intergenerational connection among LGBTQ+ communities and our allies, as well as inspire a bigger, brighter future by learning and understanding our history.

Memory Keepers Initiative is produced by The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, Christopher Verdugo, CEO and Jacob Stensberg, Artistic Director. The producer of Memory Keepers Initiative is Scott Walton.
