Your Call: How much food is America wasting?

Oct 19, 2015

On the October 19th edition of Your Call, we’ll have a conversation about the growing food waste problem.

According to the World Resources Institute, nearly one trillion dollars worth of food is wasted each year. This means roughly 32% of globally produced food goes lost, uneaten, or wasted.  With global issues like poverty and hunger killing 21,000 people a day, there has to be a way to raise awareness about food waste. What are the consequences of this waste? What’s being done to end food waste? It's Your Call, with Rose Aguilar, and you.

Guests:

Brian Lipinski, associate at the World Resource Institute's Food Program, which develops solutions to the world’s food production and consumption problems

Ben Simon, co-founder and CEO of Imperfect Produce, an Emeryville-based startup aimed at bringing 'ugly' fruits and vegetables to market at an affordable price
